 We followed Martin Whoolery on his trip to Colorado riding his 2007 Honda VLX 600. He left Lima,OH,on May 18th with good conditions, headed to Dayton, then west on I-70. He visited a number of state parks on his way west, as well as historical sites. Many rest stops in Kansas are also historical sites and were recommended by Martin due to the cleanliness and accessibility for riders. As Martin got closer to Colorado, he noticed the temperature and pressure change from gaining altitude. He also noticed a loss of fuel mileage with his VLX due to the carbureted, smaller motor. Martin recommends riding this route for the beautiful scenery and variety of attractions. He suggested Betty's Truck Stop in Sweet Springs, Missouri for the best food and friendliest people. He also recommended Fort Riley State Park and Rest Area in Kansas as the best rest stop. He would suggest a bigger bike and fuel injection for longer trips, but had a great time and will make this trip again. |  |
